How Can I Thank God Enough for YOU?

As the Director of iMOM, I have the privilege of seeing firsthand how God enables our work. It is our desire to serve moms and promote the unique position of motherhood. Quite simply we want to help moms to be the best they can be at raising their children. That is our desire, but to help you, as a mom, we must find favor with you. We must be a trusted, timely resource so that when you need inspiration and information you turn to iMOM. This year we took a ginormous step forward by reaching more women than ever with our resources. Over 6,000,000 moms visited iMOM.com this year — four times the number of visitors last year! I am amazed, humbled, even dumbfounded at times–that God would be so gracious to allow us to have such a presence in the world. How could it be that a small non-profit team could find favor with so many moms? Indeed, Christmas does not come from a store. Christmas comes from Christ. Gifts come from a store. THE gift–Christ–comes from God. Gifts give a fleeting joy and leave you hungry for more. Christ gives unending joy and triples the size of your heart. “And what happened then…? Well…in Who-ville they say that the Grinch’s small heart grew three sizes that day! He Had A Bad Day–I Made It Worse

Today was a really hard day for my husband. I believe when I am a “good” wife I have the ability to make a bad day better. I can make him smile. Today I did not. I was disgruntled. I was selfishly bent on voicing my needs and a directive on how he could and should be a “good” husband. I did not know it would be a hard day. Things just happened. But I do know, now, that I made it worse. I am sorry.

Own Your Family Calendar or it Will Own You

I took this guest post from my husband Mark’s book All Pro Dad . Earlier this week, I was feeling particularly overwhelmed because of typical “Susan” overcommitments and just happened to whine about it to Mark. He reminded me that I own the family calendar. So here are his words of wisdom… If you’re a parent, you probably have more than one job and certainly wear many hats. As a parent, you must have the mind-set that being a mom or dad is your most important job. Most CEOs have certain management responsibilities. As CEO of your family, part of your responsibility is to manage your children well. A mother or father has to have a manager mind-set. Let me illustrate. How do you handle management at the work? You probably meet regularly with those who report directly to you and spend time training them. Your goal is to train them so well that they’ll be able to take your job one day and hopefully do an even better job than you did. You are also sensitive about how they spend their time to ensure they are being as productive as possible. You do your best to manage your time well and …
