Family Football Fun Recipes

Football Rice Krispies Ingredients 4 Tbsp. butter 1 10-ounce package of marshmallows 6 cups Cocoa Rice Krispies® 1 Tube of white frosting M&M’s (pick your favorite team’s colors!) Instructions In a large pot, melt the butter on low. Add the marshmallows to the melted butter, stirring until completely melted. Remove the marshmallow mixture from the heat once melted. Stir in the Cocoa Rice Krispies® cereal so all pieces are coated. If adding M&M’s to the mixture, do so now. This gets sticky! While letting the mixture cool, butter your hands. Shape the mixture into footballs. Decorate the footballs with the white icing imitating the stitching on a football. Slow Cooker Pork Sliders Ingredients 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth (try to get the kind with no MSG) 3 pounds boneless pork ribs 1 (18 ounce) bottle barbeque sauce Instructions Pour beef broth into slow cooker and add pork ribs. Cook on high for 4 hours, or until meat shreds easily. Remove meat, and shred with two forks. This will require a little elbow grease! Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place the shredded pork in a glass baking dish, Dutch oven, or cast iron skillet, and stir …

Your kids would never know that it wasn’t ordinary beef, and better yet, lamb is comparable in price! You can spice them up however you would like, but these are so yummy and simple. Top them with anything you have in the house, but I did feta cheese, tomatoes, onion aioli and lettuce. So fire up the grill and have a little fun! Conversation Starters 1. The Perfect Company Dinner: Schwag

This past weekend I spent with a dear friend. On her farm. A real farm with goats and pigs and cows—oh my! And babies—lots of babies. I really wanted to hold them all, but the moms got mad at me. Don’t they know I am a mom and crave little warm fuzzies? It was so fun. Becky is amazing and thinks nothing of whipping up dinner for 3, 5 or 15 people at a time. This dinner she calls, “Schwag!” It came from a cousin of hers who was actually a real chef. When he came home from work, he would throw whatever he happened to have in a white sauce and bake it. So, this makes the perfect company dinner. Becky has become an expert schwagger! And what I love about this schwaggy way of cooking is that you can take the meat and vegetables and swap them for whatever you have in the fridge. If you make Schwag enough, you will find your favorite combinations. Conversation Starters 1. Would you rather swim with dolphins or dance with tame bears? 2. Would you rather be a pro sports player or a professional chef? 3. What do you think is your best …

Steak Fajitas Dinner

Picture yourself wrapped in a colorful blanket leaning up against a cactus. (Wait! On second thought, the cactus part is not the best idea.) The tumbleweed is rolling by. And you are wondering what you can rustle up for dinner by the campfire (or grill). Feeling like Southwestern fare yet? If so, try our Steak Fajitas Dinner courtesy of my sister, Kathie. And serve in warm torillas with the garnish or two of your choice: cheese, sour cream, onions, peppers, salsa, etc. Conversation Starters: 1. What fun activity do you dream about doing? 2. What talent do you dream about having? 3. What person do you dream about marrying? Main Dish Subscribe to the blog for Sunday Supper recipes and more.

Homemade Pasta For Kids

What is it about kids and dough? It’s just so fun to play with and to eat. My daughter, Emily, got in trouble at the age 5 for eating the Play Dough at school. Probably my fault as I am a big fan of eating cookie dough and my kids are too. Poor Emily, she assumed all dough was edible. My sister Kathie’s kids are still in the “dough is fun” age. They’ve had a lot of snow and she was desperate for indoor family fun. So she decided to do something with her kids that our Italian grandmother did with us–make pasta dough from scratch. They had a blast rolling, cutting and shaping — and it is so much easier than you might think. Even better, no fancy equipment required. You can make different traditional pasta types such as cavatelli, vermicelli or gnocchi. Or use cookie cutters and create your own special family pasta shape — with the help of your kids! Easy Fresh Tomato Sauce and Meatball Recipe Conversation Starters 1. Can you name the favorite color, movie, and food of everyone at the table? 2. If you could snap your fingers and be anywhere in the world right now, where …

Korean Beef and Rice Dinner

Jackie Brown, from Mom on a Mission, has provided two distinct dishes for us to enjoy: Bulgogi Korean Beef and No Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Granola Bars. So enjoy a little tasty…and a little tangy. Conversation Starters 1. What do you think will be the best thing about getting older? 2. Do you feel ready for middle school or high school? Why or why not? 3. What one things makes you excited about what is to come? Main Dish My homeland food has just turned Southern! It’s crockin’ and it’s delish’. I’ve taken my original family recipe and made it into a freezer friendly crock pot meal. If you haven’t tried bulgogi, a Korean beef dish, you have got to try this super easy recipe even if you don’t have an Asian hair on your head. I’m blessed to have this tradition continuing in our family thanks to my wonderful American mother who turned it into a family heritage night. Look at all that amazing gravy it crocks up with the marinade. Put plenty of it on your brown rice. Grab some chop sticks (even if you have to rubber band them together) and make some family memories with this crock pot meal. Dessert …
